Who Am I In Christ

In these end times, when satan is on the prowl seeking whom he may devour, it is so important to keep our focus on who we are in Christ.  God has given us so many promises, and we need to remind ourselves them. I brought this forward because I needed to remind myself of these truths, and I know they will bless you. I used four translations of the scripture NKJ (New King James) AMP (Amplified) NIV (New International Version), and KJV (King James) NASB (New American Standard Bible)

I AM:

1. A child of God (Romans 8:16)
NKJ
: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
AMPThe Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God.
NIVThe Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
KJVThe Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God
NASB: The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,

2. Redeemed from the Hand of the Enemy (Psalms 107:2)
NKJ
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
AMPLet the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary
NIVLet the redeemed of the LORD say this— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe
KJVLet the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy
NASB: Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary

3. Forgiven (Colossians 1:13-14)
NKJ
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
AMP [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,  in Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.
NIVFor he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
KJVWho hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins
NASB: For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

4. Saved by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8)
NKJFor by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God
AMPFor it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God
NIVFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
KJVFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God
NASB: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

5. Justified (Romans 5:1)
NKJ: Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
AMPTherefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
NIVTherefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
KJVTherefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
NASB: Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

6. Sanctified (1 Corinthians 6:11)
NKJ
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
AMPAnd such some of you were [once]. But you were washed clean (purified by a complete atonement for sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and you were consecrated (set apart, hallowed), and you were justified [pronounced righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God.
NIVAnd such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

NIVThrough these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires

AMPI APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
NIV: Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will
KJVI beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
NASB: Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. About Heather Marsten

Welcome to Heather's Blog. I'm looking forward to meeting you and checking out your sites. I just moved about nine years of material over from another blog site, Xanga, who may close down mid-July. At first I was disappointed to make the move because I had a lifetime membership at Xanga and had to spend weeks transferring posts. But now I'm thrilled. Already I've met new bloggers and read many new websites. Blogging is a wonderful way to expand my horizons and garner new ideas. I'm a happily married mom of three young adults. My husband and I are proud to watch our children grow and venture out into the world. My daughter is still in college but my two sons have graduated. One has a job and the other just graduated and is in the process of finding a job in his field, physics. Anyone know of any jobs out there? I'm proud of our children and love watching them grow and mature. They've become fine, compassionate, and loving people. Empty nest? Nah, I'm too busy to let an empty nest bother me. Not enough hours in the day. My husband and I enjoy quiet time together and I have many interests to pursue - one of which is blogging :D I am a born-again believer and love God. As you read this blog, you will discover that Bible studies thrill me. There is so much wisdom contained between the covers of the Bible and I am fortunate to sit under the teachings of a remarkable pastor, Pastor Don Moore. Members of our church (Living Word Chapel in West Hurley, New York) are encouraged to teach and there are visiting pastors who stop by our church, I also study the Bible on my own and love sharing what I learn. One other passion is writing. My current work in process is a memoir. A scene from my memoir was published in a book called: Heavenly Company: Entertaining Angels Unaware - an anthology of angelic encounters compiled by Cecil Murphy. I'm hoping my memoir will encourage other survivors of abuse. I grew up in a home filled with abuse, including incest. For most of my life I was searching for something that would fill the void of not being loved by my parents. I tried many ways to find that love -- therapy, relationships, occult studies, and keeping my life so filled I had no way to think about my past. It was only when I discovered God that I was able to put the pieces of my life back together and walk forward in a joyous life. My nickname - wondering has changed from wondering where the heck God was in my life, to wondering what incredible adventure is going to happen next. I hope you enjoy my site. Please say hi, share some thoughts, and ask questions. I look forward to meeting you and checking out your sites. Have a blessed day. Heather
