1 Corinthians 6 by Pastor Don Moore

1 Corinthians 6 by Pastor Don Moore

These are my  notes from a Friday Bible study taught on 4/6/12

1 Corinthians 6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

The saints are to judge. The world says do not judge. But that is not what the Word of God says. We are to judge, but we cannot judge in an area we have not perfected. We have to take the beam out of our own eye before we can point out the speck in another’s eye. We cannot judge unilaterally across the board. The devil wants us to not receive correction. If the Holy Spirit tells us to make a judgment, we must make the call. If darkness is not called out, it will increase.

If you keep living the way you’re living, the fruit of your actions will lead to hell. We can’t judge who will go to hell, but we can say your actions will lead you that way.

We are to encourage people.

There will be a millennial reign before we get to the great judgment from the throne of God. During the millennial reign Jesus will prove to all flesh that His way is the right way. That, if the earth had followed God’s rules, God’s way was right.

The first judgment is the resurrection, then there is the rapture. Those qualified to judge will be put in place during the millennial kingdom. God wastes not. How could Jesus judge man unless he first proves that His way is the right way?

Jesus will rule with an iron fist, the unsaved, un-regenerated people, and church people.

One way God has showed His displeasure on earth in the past is by withholding rain. We have had many drought problems in these days.

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

What we do here on earth is training for when we are judging in the millennial reign, and when we judge angels.

Hebrews 1:5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, today I have begotten you?” And again: “I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son?”

God doesn’t call the angels His sons. They are not the begotten Son. Only Jesus is Begotten son of creation.

Hebrews 1:6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, “Let all the anges of God worship Him.”

The angels worship Jesus.

Hebrews 1:7 And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire.”

Hebrews 1:8-9 But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

He calls Jesus God, and Your God (father), oil of gladness.

Hebrews 1:10-11  And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain;
 and they will all grow old like a garment;

The Hubble telescope is confirming that the universe is spread out like a garment, wearing out, expanding. God flung things into space. The planets and stars congregated in space and make orbits. But now the orbits are beginning to wear out, kind of like a top that is losing its spin. The law of entropy applies, what is set in motion will deteriorate over time.

We are to have no fear in the apocalypse. There is a lot of fear talk. Pastor Don asked where are you in the fear meter? Jesus tells us not to fear.

Hebrews 1:12-13 Like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be changed.
But You are the same,
and Your years will not fail.” But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand,
till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?

God said that to Jesus.

Hebrews 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

This is the function and purpose of angels. They are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to us. We are going to judge which angels did or did not do their job. Angels see God, they do not function by faith. Angels obey God. The devil and the fallen angels rebelled and did not obey God. Some angels are obedient, some are not.

Angels are given free will, not by adoption but by creation.

Oak trees do not reproduce any other kind of tree but an oak.

Angels do not reproduce.

There is a difference between angels and fallen angels. Angels are sent as ministering spirits to serve us. Fallen angels want to dominate man and use them.

The fallen angels can’t be saved. Once they turned their back on God and the cross, they cannot be restored. Angels do their assignments for the Kingdom.

Psalm 103:20 Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.

Angels are stronger than us and operate by faith based on knowledge. The sons of God speak the Word that lines up with the will of God and it must come to pass. Don’t stop praying. Be consistent in prayer and in the demonstration of gifts of the Spirit. You are entitled to access because of Jesus, as sons of God, to all the power of God. We can only access it by faith. We can’t step into sin. We gain faith as the Word tells us. Faith comes by hearing. Confidence comes by repeating the Word of God.

You can disbelieve some things and still have faith. Believing is based on knowledge of the Word.  We become corrupted when we believe anything different from the operation of faith.

Psalm 103:21-22 Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the LORD, all His works, in all places of His dominion.  Bless the LORD. O my soul!

Read the following passage and count how many times the passage says say and how many times it says believe.

Mark 22:22-24 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

We are to have faith in God, not faith in faith.  It says “say” six times, “believe” once. You have to do more saying than believing.  After you say, where do you believe?  In your heart.

Kenneth Hagin says you can have faith and doubt in your head. Faith will still work if you do not doubt in your heart. If there is doubt in your heart, faith won’t work.

In your heart faith grows from I believe its true to I know it’s true.

Facts may seem to say something opposite to your faith, but faith is true.

Faith is not of the head, faith is of the heart. If in your heart there is doubt, can you at least have mental assent in your head?

Hope of faith will not disappoint.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Have faith in God.

Moses and his staff.  The Red Sea parted.

No matter how dark our situation, we don’t know what God will do to alleviate our situation. It could be something above and beyond anything we can think or ask.

What will happen will be what you say in faith. To gain the best, you have to say what the Lord is saying.

1 Corinthians 6:4 If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?

In the church people are esteemed for knowledge, fairness, wisdom. There is a mediation board and members of the church can come to have their problems mediated. We don’t have to bring it to the civil courts.

1 Corinthians 6:5-8  I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?  But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!  Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?  No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren!

Paul is telling believers to settle their problems among themselves and to stay out of the courts. If they do this, God can give a greater blessing and more, He can help you recover any loss. Do you trust God in this?  Do you have faith to believe that God can right any wrongs?

Hope your day is blessed.

About Heather Marsten

Welcome to Heather's Blog. I'm looking forward to meeting you and checking out your sites. I just moved about nine years of material over from another blog site, Xanga, who may close down mid-July. At first I was disappointed to make the move because I had a lifetime membership at Xanga and had to spend weeks transferring posts. But now I'm thrilled. Already I've met new bloggers and read many new websites. Blogging is a wonderful way to expand my horizons and garner new ideas. I'm a happily married mom of three young adults. My husband and I are proud to watch our children grow and venture out into the world. My daughter is still in college but my two sons have graduated. One has a job and the other just graduated and is in the process of finding a job in his field, physics. Anyone know of any jobs out there? I'm proud of our children and love watching them grow and mature. They've become fine, compassionate, and loving people. Empty nest? Nah, I'm too busy to let an empty nest bother me. Not enough hours in the day. My husband and I enjoy quiet time together and I have many interests to pursue - one of which is blogging :D I am a born-again believer and love God. As you read this blog, you will discover that Bible studies thrill me. There is so much wisdom contained between the covers of the Bible and I am fortunate to sit under the teachings of a remarkable pastor, Pastor Don Moore. Members of our church (Living Word Chapel in West Hurley, New York) are encouraged to teach and there are visiting pastors who stop by our church, I also study the Bible on my own and love sharing what I learn. One other passion is writing. My current work in process is a memoir. A scene from my memoir was published in a book called: Heavenly Company: Entertaining Angels Unaware - an anthology of angelic encounters compiled by Cecil Murphy. I'm hoping my memoir will encourage other survivors of abuse. I grew up in a home filled with abuse, including incest. For most of my life I was searching for something that would fill the void of not being loved by my parents. I tried many ways to find that love -- therapy, relationships, occult studies, and keeping my life so filled I had no way to think about my past. It was only when I discovered God that I was able to put the pieces of my life back together and walk forward in a joyous life. My nickname - wondering has changed from wondering where the heck God was in my life, to wondering what incredible adventure is going to happen next. I hope you enjoy my site. Please say hi, share some thoughts, and ask questions. I look forward to meeting you and checking out your sites. Have a blessed day. Heather
